I doubt I can express better than the millions of other people around the globe what a remarkable man the world has lost. RIP Steve and thanks for changing my life for the better.
Today, I am a proud South African. The spirit on the streets is palpable, the atmosphere electric and the country is united. Regardless of how our team performs in the days ahead, we should all be proud of the amazing things that have been accomplished. There is no denying that South Africa certainly has it's problems, but today we shone for all the world to see.
Bafana Bafana may have drawn with Mexico, but tonight they are champions in the hearts of millions.
Earlier this week I was privileged enough to spend some time at the ITWeb security summit in Johannesburg, South Africa. There were some excellent international speakers and the event was a fantastic reminder of how seriously we should all be taking IT security, and about how paranoid we should be of our online activities.
As administrators we often do the best we can to secure our services. Conferences such as this are a reminder that we simply need to make one mistake for an attacker to exploit. The odds are stacked against us. In short, don't share anything online that you wouldn't share with a stranger in real life, and if you must store data, encrypt it.
